BMW 3 Series Saloon New
New BMW 320d
D Brailey
January 2010
BMW released the 316d in June 2009, which they introduced as their 'most fuel efficient and cleanest 3-Series ever'. You may have seen its impressive engine figures while doing your company car tax search.
Before this lightweight 3-Series addition, the 320d was always the most frugal in the range. Not compromising performance, thanks to the BMW adjustments known as Efficient Dynamics, the 320d has proven to be the most popular 3-Series to date.
As if in competition with itself, BMW have announced a revised version of the 320d, to be available in January 2010, which will be the 'most fuel efficient and greenest 3 series ever'.
Figures offered for the 320d may not be finalised but we have often found BMW's advanced figures to be pretty accurate.
Let's take a look at these eco Beamers side by side
| Model | Price OTR | Engine cc | Power hp | Acceleration 0-62mph |
Top Speed mph |
Combined mpg |
CO2g/km |
| 316d saloon | £23,330 | 1995 | 116 | 10.9 | 125 | 62.8 | 118 |
| 320d saloon | ? | 1995 | 163 | 8.2 | 137 | 68.9 | 109 |
This would give the new 320d a company car tax figure of 13% and an annual road fund licence of £35.
*We will add the new 320d to the Comcar database closer to the sale date, once prices are confirmed.
