Thatcham aims to improve safety and security throughout the motor industry.
The Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, or Thatcham as we are widely known was established in 1969 by British Insurers. The Centre is independently operated with a Board of Directors drawn from amongst the 31 insurer members who fund our work.
Thatcham is a not-for-profit organisation. Our main aim is to carry out research targeted at containing or reducing the cost of motor insurance claims, whilst maintaining safety and quality standards.
Employing over 120 members of staff, the Centre is well equipped with a range of collision repair equipment which is used for both research and training purposes. The Centre also has a vehicle impact testing laboratory and a sled facility for nondestructive testing. In 2004, Thatcham achieved ISO9001:2000 accreditation - recognition of our commitment to maintaining and improving quality. |
